Evil Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman) lusts for the beautiful wife of a London barber (Johnny Depp) and transports him to Australia for a crime he did not commit. Returning after 15 years and calling himself Sweeney Todd, the now-mad man vows revenge, applying his razor to unlucky customers and shuttling the bodies down to Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter), who uses them in her meat-pie shop. Though many fall to his blade, he will not be satisfied until he slits Turpin's throat.

An entertaining piece of graphic poetry. When the blood starts to spurt, sputter and spit, it’s in just the right shade — not so thick and crimson as to be off-putting but not so fake and thin as to have no impact.

This is a dark, stylish adaptation that fully embraces the tragedy of Stephen Sondheim's musical. Tim Burton creates a haunting vision of Victorian London through striking production design, desaturated visuals, and a gothic atmosphere that perfectly complements the story's themes of revenge, corruption, and obsession. The songs flow naturally through the narrative, making the film feel cinematic without losing the power of the original score. Johnny Depp portrays Sweeney Todd as a man consumed by grief and vengeance while remaining surprisingly sympathetic. Helena Bonham Carter is equally entertaining as Mrs. Lovett, balancing dark humor with genuine emotional complexity. The film's relentless bleakness won't appeal to everyone. There are very few moments of hope or relief, making it an emotionally heavy experience from beginning to end. Even so, the performances, music, and unforgettable atmosphere make it one of Tim Burton's strongest films.

Best musical ever other than chitty chitty bang bang. I loved Johnny as the Demon barber, they couldn't have found a better actor for this role. I love everyone's role actually and it was just a very good, powerful film. Had everything you can want in a great movie. Have watched this many times and plan to continue to watch it forever.

SO AMAZING! I do prefer the Sondheim's Mrs. Lovett, she was more humorous. But I collect 2007 Sweeney Todd memorabilia and FULLY FULLY enjoy it.
