The film is excellent and conveys very well the miserable lives that these dictators impose on their own people. I still find myself wondering how such things can continue to exist in the twenty-first century, and why these people are still allowed to remain in power while dragging their own people into such wretchedness. Through Marjane Satrapi's deeply personal story, history is seen not from the perspective of leaders or armies, but through the eyes of ordinary people whose lives are forever changed by political upheaval and war. That human perspective is what makes this film so powerful, and it reflects the spirit of Satrapi's entire body of work. The simple black-and-white animation carries an extraordinary emotional weight, allowing every joy, fear, and loss to feel genuine. It is moving, honest, and beautifully told without ever becoming sentimental. A remarkable film that deserves to be seen and remembered. It's discussing the sides of being born in an islamic country. Shah wasn't right and the revaltion laws, too. Every community that oppress the humans and takes any right from their rights and freedom; becomes a failure communities. Today, as Islam and headscarves become increasingly popular among German youth of the TikTok generation, it's helpful to remember how many people have been tortured and murdered in the name of (not only) this religion, simply because they wanted to live self-determined and true to themselves. The historical knowledge is pretty accurate, but the voice actors would constantly pronounce things, such as Tehran and Iran, wrong. The voice actors sounded monotone, and had distinct American accents. You’d think a movie about the Iranian revolution would have at least a few Iranian voice actors. It was embarrassing to watch.
