When their boat is sunk while crossing the Timor Sea during World War II, a young troop of Australian soldiers must find a way to survive the harsh seas on a quickly shrinking life raft. Hundreds of miles from anywhere, they must confront interpersonal conflicts, enemy attacks, and the advances of one very large, very hungry great white shark. From Kiah Roache-Turner, director of Wyrmwood and Sting, comes this uniquely terrifying tale.

It’s terrifying -- perhaps more terrifying in how it compels the viewer to imagine being in the same situation than in how the subsequent shark attacks are actually staged; some viewers will likely be as disturbed by the claustrophobia as by the teeth. Go to Full Review

Beast of War is far from groundbreaking, and the story is thin. But it’s also a taut 87 minutes, and offers just enough of a variation on familiar stories to be worth your time. Go to Full Review

The concept is simple, easy to sell to an audience, and it unfolds in a brisk and efficient 83 minutes. This is a film that does precisely what it claims to do, which is an approach I will always appreciate. Go to Full Review

Horror fan 4 1d For a movie to be set during world war 2 is a great idea by itself. Now you throw in a shark and you have one of the craziest horror movies ever. I absolutely loved this movie. The characters not liking one another just adds to this very stressful and most dangerous mission yet.. Survival. Tim Treakle See more Pulse Gamers @Lightingblade28 3d I went in this movie blind didn't watch any trailers saw the poster and thought AI low budget slopped, omg how wrong was I this movie was a top notch movie with a combination of war and shark film. We rarely get any good shark movies definitely worth a re watch See more Michael B @Mike101 3d An interessting take on a shark movie with influences from the real-life Indianapolis disaster with very good performances and practical (human) effects. What brings the rating down however is the bad shark animatronic, which isn't convincing at all. See more Farah R. @Farah Jan 20 It’s been a while since a shark movie rattled me like Jaws. Beast of War relies on the power of suggestion to amplify fear, letting the audience conjure up the psychological tension. The performances carried the movie, adding depth and grounding the survival horror premise. It’s an enjoyable film that’s better than the average shark movie. See more Kyle A. @kyleashe Jan 4 One of the worst shark movies I’ve seen. Not sure what some of the other audience members were thinking. Clearly they’ve never swam with sharks or know anything about sharks but this film is garbage. Bad acting, bad script, and bad effects. Skip this one and give your $5 to ocean conservation or something. See more rik b @Rikbattaglia Dec 18 Definitely worth watching and a good movie. Finding a decent shark movie to watch is extremely rare, but this is one I would recommend. Performances were solid and the shark effects looked acceptable. See more Read all reviews
