Chris L @Christoph2000 May 8 I'm always keen on being taken on cinematic tours of the rarer kind, and Two Brothers covers many of those bases: the colonial 1920s Cambodia setting and the concentration on (mostly) real tigers doing incredible onscreen feats in particular. The cinematography is movie magic, although unfortunately the horribly slow first half and undeveloped characters undermine its claim to such a title. The rampaging, rapacious human caricatures thankfully do not dominate the screen, with Kamal and Sangha often feeling more well-rounded and the emotion of their reunion in the bloodsport ring easily towering above all other scenes in the movie. The close second? Kamal's jump through the flames. A U rating is questionable when the deeper themes of the narrative besides animal cruelty are out of the filmmaker's reach as a result, whilst Guy Pearce's (grand actor and man, by the way) accent is neither quite English nor his native Australian.
