F See more M M @locust_star Aug 31, 2026 Some remakes of classics fail and are forgotten about, and the original film becomes sacred again. There are remakes that are so bad that the name of the movie will stand out in the zeitgeist, and people who do not have knowledge of the original will only point out the stain of the current atrocity. This is one of those stains. The original 1973 Wicker Man is a perfect film. It is The Godfather, in terms of folk horror. But when the sacred name of Wicker Man is mentioned, people will quote Cage's line, "Not the bees." And any intelligent conversation you intended to have regarding the 1973 film is thrown in the toilet. Unfortunately, this will happen with the 2027 Possession remake as well. I watched it on DVD and much to my disgust I found out while watching that the DVD release cut the only reason anyone remembers this film AKA That iconic bee scene.
