The fact that anyone is taking The Hunt seriously as a look at community panic around pedophilia, or the mass psychology of scapegoating, or even as a solid slice of middlebrow realism, is truly confounding.

Good things first: The movie is incredible at making you dread every moment. Every little happenstance that furthers Lucas' fall hurts in the chest. Problem is, they're pretty farfetched happenstances. To a point, where the movie feels more like a victim fantasy for men who rave about, how being falsely accused ruins lives. It's awfully contrived and I couldn't enjoy it because of that.
