THE GIRL ON THE MOUNTAIN is an intense thriller set against a backdrop of beautiful, yet treacherous wilderness. Haunted by family tragedy, reclusive backwoodsman Jack Ward (Daniel O'Reilly) is given a chance at redemption when a young girl (Makenzie Sconce) fleeing abuse and murder, comes into his life. Safety and security are short-lived as the girl's vengeful father and his posse converge on the two. Now Ward must summon his instincts as a paternal protector and face off against the sadistic intruders.

Things really fall off once Sconce tries to rev up the action in the final 15 minutes or so. The framing of the shots, the weird use of slow-motion, the jarring way it clashes with the rest of the movie. Nothing about the the “big” ending feels authentic

This story of the bond that forms between a broken man living off the grid in the mountains and a young girl running away from an abusive household is unfortunately marred by plot holes and lapses in story logic.

Great writing, albeit with some plot holes. Amazing cinematography and visually very appealing. Slow building but it is in line with the premise of this movie, also adds to the nuance and ambiance. Cast acts very convincingly in character. Very real feel to it, although patience is required.

Saw more than just 2 sconces in the credits which is cool ...at least "the girl " had family looking out 4 her on set..which by the way ,personally I think she did pretty d@#$ good ! Looking forward to her future endeavors.

There are some flaws in the story and I'm not sure ending was well thought out. There are a little bit of ABC after school special vibes here, but I think the reception of this movie by the audience will partly depend on what the viewer brings to the table. If they can identify with the redemption theme, it will be very meaningful and impactful to them. If not, this might be a slow boring indy film

"THE GIRL ON THE MOUNTAIN is an intense thriller..." ...is false. It was a slow, plodding drama that could have only been made slower by making the movie longer. Decent premise, and the girl was a good actress, but there was little to give one a feeling of empathy for the main character. It is a drama about two people bonding. I have no idea where RT got "Mystery" and "Thriller" from in categorizing this. I made it an hour and ten minutes in before I just complete gave up on it.
