The musical numbers are solid and give us torch songs and peppy company numbers aplenty, but the film itself self-destructs in the third act, losing its steam when it should be hitting us with a showstopping number.

The Deb is hilarious. Filthy, fun, but most of all moving. Yet it’s also mocking real issues that a lot of its target audience (young women) passionately care about.

The Deb borrows heavily from familiar themes in Cinderella and Mean Girls, but this musical comedy has enough to merit being uniquely entertaining. The movie (about two opposite cousins affected by a debutante ball) can be unfocused yet enjoyable.

Loved it!!! and I generally hate 'musicals'. So funny and a light hearted comedy. Well done Rebel. Thanks for promoting young Australian talent. The acting was good particularly given the number of actors on debut. Rebel did a wonderful job directing such a green cast, especially given it was her own debut as a director. Has potential as a cult movie. .

Saw this yesterday. Hilarious! Fun and full of dancing and singing. Pokes sticks at so much pc woke nonsense, it's a laugh a minute. Good actors too. (Although I'd say Wilson NOT one the best, imho. But plenty of others who are terrific.) Highly recommend for a 'spirit lift'. PS. Perhaps not if one is easily 'offended'!

Rebel Wilson has once again demonstrated how egregiously mediocre she is with this dumpster fire that makes me embarrassed to be Australian. I wish this had stayed in legal limbo due to Rebel being sued, and never seen the light of day

I really enjoyed this. It's uniquely Australian, and this was just so well done - 4-5 proper laugh out loud moments and a really enjoyable story line. Not often that you can get depth and comedy in a movie. I've only dropped half a star as I was not a huge fan of the dance scenes - some of them felt as an add on and not really necessary. But I must admit I am not a musical fan so could be just my own personal preference. Strongly recommend this movie - it's great.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was funny, it had depth, it challenged thinking. Hard to get all of these and balanced in a comedy. I just wish it got more recognition and exposure - I do think this will be a hit when it moves to streaming - which I hope is soon. Was also nice seeing the late Julian McMahon. Great movie - especially for us Aussies!
