Matt R @RT34189340 4 days ago SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE tells a fictional fantasy about the making of NOSFERATU (1922). Malkovich is the genius filmmaker F.W. Murnau. He is on a mission to make his vampire movie in spite of not being able to get the rights to Bram Stoker's Dracula. His production has a powerful secret that he believes will make his film extraordinary. That secret is that actor Max Schrenk, played beautifully by Dafoe, is really an undead blood sucker. Malkovich is peak Malkovich. His intelligence, obsession, intensity and emotion is all on display. Directed by E. Elias Merhidge with cinematography by Lou Bogue and production design by Assheton Gordon, the movie sets a compelling and sometimes creepy mood and atmosphere. The cast that includes Udo Kier, Eddie Izzard, Catherine MacCormick and Carey Elwes enhances the spell cast by Malkovich and Dafoe. As a movie about making a movie, it celebrates the art form of the early silent era while satirizing movie making that still stings with truth today. I get it… They want to "sound like" a movie critic. But the best way to do that is to speak *distinctly* about what you as an individual did or did not like about a movie/TV series. If you can’t even do *that* without using a computer to speak for you, then I think that you’re very bad at your hobby or outright *terrible* at your chosen profession. All of the excuses you hear about certain "conditions" precluding one from writing/typing which require the assistance of AI also leave out one, basic truth: not everyone has to try to "sound like a movie critic."
