Irina B @RT34155209 Nov 7, 2024 A lovely period adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. It's interesting to see The Hallmark Channel attempt historical fiction. (I enjoyed their Sense, Sensibility and Snowmen as well as Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe, which are basically Jane Austen novels interpreted as Hallmark Channel Christmas Romance movies.) This one borrows some ideas from Bridgerton, of course, as many of these historical adaptations tend to these days. Some of the acting is exaggerated for comedic effect. And the costumes are fairytale inspired. The music attempts to reinterpret modern songs with classical instruments (ala Bridgerton). But overall, the story is true to Jane Austen's characters, plot and theme. It's a successful interpretation of a beloved classic and an entertaining watch. Do recommend. If you want to watch a great adapted version of this book, Sense and Sensibility (1995) with Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet in the cast, that's is my recomendation. If you can move pass the commercial breaks and "interesting" choice of costumes then its a enjoyable take on a timeless classic.
