Darcy (Dev Patel) and Daphne (Rosy McEwen) Davenport are freshly decamped from London and taking up residence in an isolated cottage deep in the Welsh countryside in search of creative renewal and acoustic inspiration. When the couple set about exploring their new environs, recording instruments in tow, Darcy stumbles upon a "faerie circle" that emits a strange, unidentifiable frequency; this odd discovery is followed closely by the appearance of an otherworldly child (Jade Croot) who claims to live nearby and is eager to befriend the Davenports. Soon the child becomes a fixture in their household, alternately ingratiating himself and raising suspicions, and exposing unacknowledged rifts and unexamined secrets that threaten to wreak psychological and spiritual havoc in the lives of his makeshift adoptive parents.

Verging on magic realism, the moss and fungus invading the interior of the cottage as Davenports are put under the spell of the child is truly a wonder (thanks to production designer Lucie Red). Patel and McEwen have terrific chemistry together.

Boring , even from the very beginning; plus, the film is made with very little light …we don’t care at all for the 2 main characters ( they are actually the only 2 people in this boring movie). Skip away from this one quickly ….

A movie that felt like I wrote it myself. Fresh, new, creative and inspiring. This film has already started to leech into my writing and reshape how I think about sound. As a lover of folk tales, I can't think of how it could be improved upon. All three actors were stunning in their roles. The cinematography was dreamy. Wonderful watch, and something I'll be recommending to anyone with the willpower to hear me ramble about it.
