The teenager Salvador raises his younger brothers Oliver and Benjamin in an isolated house in the woods. Salvador and Oliver keep their father and mother locked in a cell in the basement since they turned into zombies. When 7-year-old Benjamin finds the secret, he intends to re-educate their parents, but the teenager Valeria subdues Salvador and spends the night with the siblings. In the morning, she sneaks out to the basement and is attacked by the couple of zombies. Now they d refuse to eat anything but human flesh and the siblings have a problem. "Parvulos" (2024) is a different Mexican horror movie by Isaac Ezban, with a story of survival and family. The plot blends zombie and slasher with dark comedy and seems to be unique. At least the zombie sex scene. My vote is six. Title (Brazil): "Párvulos: Filhos do Apocalipse" ("Parvulos: Sons of the Apocalypse") See more CadeandKit R @CadeandKit Dec 10 A film that’s quiet, emotional, and weirdly nourishing. We first saw it at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, and then caught it again at the Calgary Independent Film Festival and it hit just as hard the second time. Párvulos is set in a world that's fallen apart, but it doesn’t rely on explosions or chaos. Instead, it lingers in the slow aftermath focusing on small human moments, makeshift survival, and what it means to keep caring for others when the world gives up. This isn’t high-concept apocalypse. It’s raw, lived-in, almost meditative. The camera lingers. The silences are full. The emotional pacing is so slow, it kind of hurts in a good way. Directed by Isaac Berrocal, who, by the way, is absolutely one to watch! From lighting to tone, it nails "gentle dread". You feel like you’re intruding on something deeply human.
