I like the first one a little better. Mainly I just hate how this one tries to redeem the bad guy at the last minute. But it is just as fun and intriguing as the first one.

The second time around, the National Treasure series still falters the same as the first time, and I found this one to be even more outlandish with its plot compared to the first one. Despite its faults, this movie was still full of thrills and incredibly fun to watch, with amazing action sequences and a captivating mystery. I definitely recommend this for action, adventure, mystery, and history fans!

Diane Kruger, Nicolas Cage, and Justin Bartha are still delightful in this exciting sequel. Director Jon Turteltaub’s action-adventure National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) is a wonderful sequel to the first National Treasure. It’s got funny jokes, interesting historical facts, entertaining conspiracy theories, charming characters, sweet romance, cool locales, and exciting stunts. I’ve seen this movie easily over a dozen times and it still holds up with tension, mystique, and humor alike. Nicolas Cage is hilariously unhinged and intense as Ben Gates this time around. He delivers historical facts and conspiracies with a nice realism, but then goes for broke for the comedic bits. Justin Bartha is still a riot as Riley Poole. I like that he gets a girlfriend at the end and gets his car back. Diane Kruger is still gorgeous, funny, clever, and helpful as Dr. Abigail Chase. She gets to be more playful with Cage this time I thought.
