When this movie first came out in theaters I did not watch it in theaters unfortunately. I regretted not going to see it in the big screen as a kid. Now as an adult, finally getting the opportunity was GREAT. This movie really is GREAT and it gave me so much nostalgia. I loved it then and love it now. Class or possibly even a masterpiece!!!

'Monster House' is one of the most special memories from my childhood, even though it isn't truly a kids' film. It blends emotion and nostalgia; I've seen it so many times that I could recall the story almost entirely. As an adult, its darker tone, subtle humor, and quiet social commentary stand out even more beneath its childlike appearance. The characters connect instantly-exaggerated in just the right way and capable of carrying an unsettling yet charming story. The plot is tightly crafted, leaving no loose ends, and builds emotional tension without forcing it. The soundtrack is unforgettable and defines much of the film's atmosphere. Nostalgia plays a part in how I feel about it, but even if I watched it for the first time today, I'm sure I'd still consider it an animated masterpiece.
