Alex (Ben Stiller), Morty (Chris Rock) and other zoo animals find a way to escape from Madagascar when the penguins reassemble a wrecked airplane. The sequel to the 2005 Madagascar is as spunky, witty and funny. However, what's a let-down perhaps is the story, which takes the same course as The Lion King, with a detour towards Shrek thrown in.

Marginal improvement over what its predecessor tried to achieve on an opportunistically wider canvas with stellar voice talents granting hilarity onto the delighted viewer who’ll feel how pleasantly wholesome the return is. (B+)

Madagáscar 2 expande o universo dos animais de Nova Iorque ao levá-los para a savana africana, trazendo uma animação visualmente superior e piadas muito eficazes. Contudo, a fragmentação do grupo em subtramas paralelas enfraquece o ritmo do meio para o final. Elementos como o romance forçado entre Melman e Glória e o vilão Makunga impedem o filme de ser excelente. É uma sequela sólida que diverte, mas sem o mesmo impacto do original.

Felt like the first film, the only difference was that the actual story took a bit too long to get going again, and once it did, I was like "that's all?" At least it has the meme that everyone prolly knows what I'm talking about.

Still brilliant, and then some ... Growing from strength to strength. Story and directing still great, amazing cinematography and stunning visuals. More "matured" characters with intense interaction between them. Usual sharp wit, action, fast pace, drama, calamity, suspense, intrigue and more emotion than before. Whole stellar cast still excels in character, very convincingly. Highly entertaining and captivating
