Lucien D @DESAR Jul 16 I always enjoyed Louis C.K. his jokes are usually very funny. This show was absolutely miserably bad. It was the worst comedy set on Netflix I've ever seen. I don't want to sound mean (I know how hard it is to build a set for a special). However, the jokes seemed force and didn't flow naturally. I am not sure if he just out of practice or he was doing shows with mega fans and then he used that material for the show. At the end of the day a comedy special is supposed to make you laugh and this one just didn't. Yes he landed a few jokes, yes I laughed a few times but in general I didn't. And that's coming from somebody who thinks Louis CK is one of the funniest people on the planet, I really appreciate the way he approaches comedy but this obviously just didn't do it for me. Brilliant thinking, great craftsmanship, yes. But in the end comedy should make you laugh. Most of the material was "good", but to be honest, I can't remember a single actual bit one week later. Low energy, flat pacing, no real high points, weak close. Sad. It seems more as if he's playing Louis C.K. as a character, rather than just being Louis C.K. Worth watching for all fans of his, but don't expect anything different! At the same time, his material remains as provocative, profound and, well, ridiculous as ever. There's some disarmingly presented insight into life and the human condition as he only can. Also of note is the audience interplay section, wherein he takes a standard comedy format and butchers it violently in what is one of his most honest bits, somehow strangely unfunny and deeply funny at the same time.
