It's the height of the Cold War, and famous archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford), returning from his latest adventure, finds out his job at Marshall College is in jeopardy. He meets Mutt (Shia La Beouf), a young man who wants Indy to help him find the legendary Crystal Skull of Akator, and the pair set out for Peru. However, deadly agent Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) is searching for the powerful artifact, too, because the Soviets believe it can help them conquer the world.

Critics Consensus

Though the plot elements are certainly familiar, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull still delivers the thrills and Harrison Ford's return in the title role is more than welcome.

There are so many levels of nostalgia piled onto Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that it’s hard to unearth a nugget of new inspiration; but the golden oldies that are doled out should dazzle those who cheer for the familiar.

It is like seeing a dear old friend. Indiana once made us all feel we could be stronger and braver, if we tried. And he wasn't a silly modern superhero, just a guy who combined a thirst for knowledge with great courage and ingenuity.

Despite the film’s many poor choices that range from mildly distracting to hugely damaging, I found plenty to like in Crystal Skull, and I don’t think it completely goes against the spirit of the Indiana Jones movies

I literally made this account to review this piece of shit. I'm going to ignore everything else and KNOW that Indiana Jones is a trilogy. I finally decided to watch this piece of shit because it was part of the digital download I purchased, but I wish I hadn't. I beg that I could have my time back. This POS movie is so GD bad, I can't believe they were able to attach so many big players. Plot F+, so much shit Acting C, at least they tried with that horrible script Visual F-, so shitty, the other 3 looked far better Bottom line, hard skip. I told myself I would never watch it, I wish I could hold that promise. 0/10

Rating: 6.8/10 ⭐️ Checking how Indy’s 1950s sci-fi outing holds up today. Expected a disaster based on online hate, but the nostalgic adventure and classic Ford charm still bring solid fun. What Worked: • Replicating the classic lighting to keep that warm, old-school look honestly rules. • Ford doesn’t hide his age and handles the physical stuff like a champ, grounding it for me. • The college motorcycle chase has that fast-paced Spielberg energy that totally pops. The Friction: • The Amazon rainforest part really dragged for me during the heavy exposition. • Digital jungle CGI honestly felt forced and pulled me out of the practical vibe. • Shifting into heavy sci-fi near the end felt a bit jarring compared to the original trilogy. Verdict: Watch for nostalgic fun. Skip if heavy CGI annoys you.
