While Graham pulls out every trick in the book, Burstyn achieves more with an eyebrow or pursed lips. Combined, they're a brilliant foil to the innocence of the children.

Flowers, both the book and the new movie, is completely absurd - if you want to gauge the absurdity, just know that one of the darkest secrets in the narrative involves a doughnut - but somehow also psychologically coherent. It has a grip.

Abominable, wooden acting from everyone, especially Heather Grahame. Poor script and dialogue. It’s a shame because the storyline had the potential to create an excellent film.

This was a horrible adaption of the book. Free rein was taken to change or omit things from the original. If I were VC Andrews I would be cringing over the terrible injustice to her fine novel. I am sorry I viewed it.

Its an interesting story with a mix of tragedy and love born from abuse. However the film feels rushed as they attempt to cram two years worth of trauma into an hour and a half. The cast do give great performance's but I feel like this would have been better as a miniseries than a movie, give us more time to connect with the characters.

I wish the people who write the screenplay adaptions for VCA books would take the time to read her novels. So far nobody is even coming close, and that is disappointing since she is my favorite author.
