Highly recommended. See more Daniela P @DaniP Dec 31 I had high expectations for this film, but it disappointed me greatly. It’s very repetitive and, honestly, just plain boring. There are countless shots of people walking or running, which feel completely unnecessary. The theme of Churchill disagreeing with his War Cabinet over peace talks with Germany is repeated over and over again, with only minor variations. The film builds tension throughout but never delivers a real climax. The one genuinely exciting episode—the evacuation from Dunkirk—is never even shown! Instead, the film offers tedious scenes of typing letters and telegrams. Exaggerated, melodramatic dialogue doesn’t help either. The only thing I truly appreciated was the stellar cast, with Gary Oldman front and centre. Unfortunately, even that wasn’t enough to save the film from feeling like complete torture—for me, at least. Gary Oldman’s portrayal of Winston Churchill is commanding, immersive, and deservedly acclaimed. The supporting cast adds credibility and weight to the political stakes surrounding Britain’s darkest days. Production design and costuming convincingly recreate wartime London and Parliament. The film leans heavily on dialogue and internal conflict rather than action, which suits the subject matter well. Its serious tone reinforces the gravity of the moment in history. However, the pacing does drag at times, particularly in the middle sections. Some scenes linger longer than necessary without adding new insight. Despite this, the tension and emotional payoff remain effective. Overall, it’s a strong film that rewards patience with powerful performances and thoughtful drama. See more J B Dec 4 One of those films that gives you goosebumps as Churchill bumbles his way into history (again). Oldman is superb as Churchill and the filing is so atmospheric you almost feel as if you’re in the House of Commons or his house with him. Kirsten Scott-Thomas and Lily James along with Ronald Pickup are perfect in their roles. If you’ve ever been in the War Rooms in London you can sense the claustrophobic hive of activity that unbelievably held the British war effort together. A film that I could watch more than once. See more letaiser Nov 22 Very impressive Movie, I dont know much about the story of Winston Churchill but this gave me some insight into the story line of the United Kingdom during WW2. In this Movie they didnt explain the whole Story of Churchill but more the storyline of hime becoming premier minister and him going against the germans during the lead of hitler in ww2. The Directing of this Movie is fantastic and the Acting is also incredible but it definitely is nothing to lay back to and to turn their brain of to. See more Read all reviews
