Khepri N @RT28995670 1d A overall masterpiece. The direction and casting was pinpoint. The screenplay was a 80 out of 100. Johnny Deep really gave this character charisma and personality. To the point were you fell in love with the drug dealer and his wrong doing. This is a movie I bought and randomly re watch for nuances. Jordi Molla gave the absolute best, screen and performance out of the whole movie. Johnny Depp gives George Jung charm, arrogance, sadness, and self-destruction, making him likable enough to follow without letting the movie ignore the damage he causes. The film moves through different eras with strong period style, using clothes, music, locations, and the changing drug culture to create a fast-moving sense of time and place. Ray Liotta gives the movie its emotional center as George’s father, and his scenes with Depp bring the story back to disappointment, love, and wasted potential. The issue is that the movie can make George’s life look more exciting than tragic. The consequences land later, but the early sections have enough style and energy that the danger can feel glamorous.
