Stephen O @RT04029311 Jul 16 I was in the US Navy from 1964 to 1971. I survived the Viet-Nam War and spent extra time in the US Naval Reserve. I was a Radarman and worked inside C.I.C. or Combat Information Center. My Dad was a 34 year US Navy Veteran from WW2. He was a Radioman and then later a Lt. Commaner. So the Navy and everything about is in my blood. What I enjoyed most about this film is that it gives you an "Eye" on modern day Navy inside the CIC and the Bridge of an Arleigh-Burke Class Guided Missel Destroyer. I was on an older Adams Class DDG-9. Also, as part of my "Breakin Period" I had to climb the "Mast" and this movie shows a scene of the newer Mast. OK...there is negative shit about the fact that this whole situation is just too "far out" or stupid..?? Why..more than likely they never "Served"..!! This is a Si-Fi Movie and a very good one in that it is very possible that "we are NOT alone" on this Third Rock from the Sun. But it's a movie!! This movie is great. Maybe I’m used to the crap they come out with now because this actually has a plot. Maybe it has plot holes. I don’t know I don’t care. Look, we actually care about the characters. I don’t think the dialogue stupid at least compared to what I’m used to over the last 10 or so years. Even the reviews that liked it keeps saying it’s cheesy. I don’t think it’s cheesy. I think Rihanna did a great job, and I actually like the characters in the film and it really feels like military. And my God it’s got heart that’s missing in all the movies these days. I didn’t have any expectations, but I think it’s a damn good summer blockbuster. When they insert a skinny black female DEI giant forehead singer (Rihanna) into an action role, it’s over! The storyline sucked! Special effects sucks! Acting sucked! Everything sucked! Always had high hopes for anything Liam Neeson is in, but even he sucked! Pretty amazing how the screwup brother dude just gets up after being thrown 30’ into a steel wall by a giant armored alien!
