Too bad most people will think of the terrible remake starring Nick Cage. It has every thing including a rape scene for those of you with triggers that require warnings. It is also a beautiful love story and an action movie with a twist you'd never see coming. Making Kong deaf adds an element to the cinematic storytelling. See more 11/23/2012 If you can handle the ultra-slow pacing, grainy film quality, and dark subject matter, then I would highly recommend the original Bangkok Dangerous. Don't be fooled by the lousiness of the remake, the original is low-budget foreign filmmaking at its best. What makes the film so refreshing is its refusal to play by the general rules surrounding most mainstream Thai films. It never breaks into slapstick comedy and doesn't throw in any outrageous characters who are inappropriate for the story. Instead, it's a relentless exploration into the criminal underworld, exploring themes of love, loss, and redemption in a world seemingly without hope. It's super depressing, but effective.
