The day starts out as usual for residents in the small Heartland town of Minninnewah. It's springtime and big storms are just part of life. Nothing to get worked up about... until they are. Inhabitants will have just 13 Minutes to get to shelter before the largest tornado on record ravages the town, leaving the inhabitants searching for their loved ones and fighting for their lives. In the wake of total devastation, four families must overcome their differences and find strength in themselves and each other in order to survive.

Insofar as its saccharine, Lifetime-movie-esque depiction of the bigness of small-town lives, 13 Minutes works. But as a disaster movie, it fails.

If Gossling was trying to say something about diversity in the mid-west as I suspect she was, the cringey dialogue needed to be far less on the nose and her characters not as frustratingly silly.

Good acting, story lines, great tornado affects as we live just a few miles of where part of movie filmed and regularly have tornados in our area.

Not another stupid over the top Hollywood tornado movie. It’s focused on the characters and how real people in a small towns lives get turned upside down with a disaster. I liked the references to what to do and what not to do related to sever weather. It was a little slow at times and too much time was spent on the social issues part in my opinion. Still worth a watch but I’d wait for the stream.

Confused on the bad ratings. I liked this movie and there were a few times I cried emotional tears. It’s not another cheesy disaster movie (which I love); it was relatable to life. It starts intense with the barn catching on fire, calms down and gives you the character background, then builds up again. As far as the movie critic reviews…did Rex Reed even watch the movie? If so, he would’ve known that the boyfriend wanted Maddy to get an abortion (not want her to keep it; he has two other children that he didn’t term her about and didn’t want to have a third. He tells her "you can hang far the baby, I just don’t ever want to see it or have be anything to do with it,"). He should also know that Peyton didn’t "run away", she went outside to pay attention to the weather like her mom (Kim) told her to. Peyton was right in her front yard when Maddy grabbed her to get shelter inside and get her helmet on. I read the full review; Rex, I think you need to watch again.
