The strengths of the series are numerous, especially when it comes to the parts that feel like a gothic family drama. Go to Full Review

When you get into the third episode, and you realize that you've seen 10 minutes of eight different stories I didn't feel like I had time to get invested in anything. Go to Full Review

I’m sure many will binge the series, happy to ride out the contradictions, the unbalanced timelines, and the sometimes lazy acting, and delight in Kidman’s aura but Scarpetta fans will be a little disappointed. Go to Full Review

...[Scarpetta] finds its footing in the construction of the case and in the centrality of Nicole Kidman, although the accumulation of subplots introduces digressions that affect the concentration of the narrative. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

It has all the necessary components -- strong source material, a capable cast and a compelling central premise -- but struggles to integrate them into a cohesive whole. Go to Full Review

I think it's, again, trying to do so much, but I don't know that it knows what it wants to do. So it's just trying some of everything. Go to Full Review

Carol M @RT78510023 7h Just awful, painful to watch. Such a shame as I love the books. They've deviated so far from the origional book script, why?? I managed 15 mins before I turned it off. See more Amy S @RT91300390 11h After 20 minutes, I had a headache from listening to Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis scream at each other. I asked a large number of friends on social whether it was worth continuing. The answers I got back were overwhelmingly the same - AWFUL!!! And I love the books See more Tim D. @RT39962106 22h Really really hard to watch. And thats setting aside the somewhat graphic scenes in the morgue. See more Laura H @MrsBulsara 1d OMG what a disappointment. I love the books, but I hate how this has been adapted. Why is Jamie Lee Curtis playing a sister who is supposed to be younger than the main character. Don't get me wrong, I love strong, older women and I love women protagonists, but this is a terrible miscast. JLC's acting is so extreme that I mute whenever she is on the screen. There is so much yelling. Nicole Kidman is fine as Kay Scarpetta, but the character in the TV show does not match the character in the books. Again, all of the yelling is unnecessary. Kay in the books seethes quietly and with dignity, but not here. I also do not like the dark turn of Kay or Benton which was shocking and not at all how they are written. Too much was crammed into these few episodes. The multiple time shifts were distracting and confusing. Just a mess. I do like the casting of Benton, old and young, Lucy, old and young, and Pete, old and young. This can be great with some major tweaking. See more Flemming W @Flemming 1d I actually liked the performance of especially Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. And the going back and forward in time was also interesting. But the plot and especially the ending was horrible. During 8 episodes you believe that they slowly come closer and closer to the killer.....but then the killer just JUMP out of the closet, and it shows that they had absolutely no clue... but also that there was not reason for him to expose himself. Totally hopeless ending and disrespect for the audience. See more Gary E. @garynext 1d It’s just poor. I wanted to like anything, left wanting. Ahh, such a disappointment. See more Read all reviews
