Send Help (2026) 90% EDIT “Send Help works as comedy every so often, whether it's because of Raimi's penchant for making violence downright goofy or the stars' charisma, but it's so overlong and stagnant as anything else that the majority of it is just a slog.” – ScreenAnarchy Jan 26, 2026 Full Review The Plague (2025) 97% EDIT “Rather than deliver any sense of tension and release or thematic heft, The Plague remains a sometimes beautifully realized but ultimately hollow and frustrating hour and a half spent with selfish tween boys.” – Chicago Reader Jan 21, 2026 Full Review Return to Silent Hill (2026) 20% EDIT “As an adaptation of one of the best video games ever made from a filmmaker who successfully translated the games' world to film before, it's a major disappointment. As a movie, it's just bad. ” – ScreenAnarchy Jan 21, 2026 Full Review The Housemaid (2025) 74% EDIT “While not every aspect is entirely successful, The Housemaid's big swings at fucked-up fun land far more than they miss.” – ScreenAnarchy Dec 18, 2025 Full Review Rosemead (2025) 89% 3/5 EDIT “Liu and Shou's performances sell the emotional reality of this two-person family...but the movie would be much stronger if it centered just one of those two family members.” – ScreenAnarchy Dec 8, 2025 Full Review Young Blondes, Stalked and Murdered (2025) EDIT “Reminiscent of the best cosmic horror that sticks in your mind because there's always something beyond the screen. But there's nothing fantastical here, no lore that's not filled in...which makes Young Blondes all the more beguiling.” – ScreenAnarchy Dec 3, 2025 Full Review Little Trouble Girls (2025) 98% EDIT “One of the best and most promising directorial debuts of the 21st century.” – ScreenAnarchy Dec 3, 2025 Full Review King Ivory (2024) 71% 3/5 EDIT “King Ivory [is] a solid riff on Sicario and a collection of almost all the cliches of Traffic (including the anti-drug crusader with an addict child) with none of the visual flair.” – Chicago Reader Nov 23, 2025 Full Review Violent Ends (2025) 67% 3/5 EDIT “As effective and good looking as Violent Ends may be, it’s just too generic to be something special.” – Chicago Reader Nov 23, 2025 Full Review Predator: Badlands (2025) 86% 4/5 EDIT “Bursting with astonishing blends of practical and digital effects, thrilling action, beautifully shot vistas, and equally heartfelt and humorous character dynamics.” – Chicago Reader Nov 23, 2025 Full Review Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc (2025) 96% 4/5 EDIT “It has flaws but is such a marvel of animation and such a raucous blast of fun that it's hard to see any fans being (too) vocally angry about it on the internet.” – ScreenAnarchy Oct 22, 2025 Full Review Good Boy (2025) 90% 3.5/5 EDIT “It’s pretty common stuff narratively, but the striking look and Leonberg’s ability to develop and sustain atmospheric suspense make Good Boy better than it needs to be. It also helps that Indy’s extremely cute and a very good boy.” – Chicago Reader Oct 10, 2025 Full Review TRON: Ares (2025) 53% 2/5 EDIT “There are some cool scenes within the Grid, and Nine Inch Nails’ music turns those scenes into great music videos stuck inside a mediocre if not outright bad movie.” – Chicago Reader Oct 10, 2025 Full Review Roofman (2025) 87% 3.5/5 EDIT “The vast majority of Roofman registers as authentic in its retelling of this story, which is why it's such a success overall.” – ScreenAnarchy Oct 10, 2025 Full Review Plainclothes (2025) 83% 3/5 EDIT “Emmi’s willingness to play with form is welcome...and hopefully in future projects, he’s able to calibrate it better and write a more interesting script.” – Chicago Reader Oct 3, 2025 Full Review One Battle After Another (2025) 94% 3.5/5 EDIT “In the time between preproduction in 2023 and release in 2025, One Battle After Another has only become more relevant and suspect in equal measure. Hopefully, in time it will be less relevant and easier to enjoy, because there is a lot to enjoy.” – ScreenAnarchy Sep 22, 2025 Full Review A Big Bold Beautiful Journey (2025) 36% 3.5/5 EDIT “Whether the big swings work or not...it’s a welcome surprise to see a colorful, midbudget studio film that’s willing to take them.” – Chicago Reader Sep 18, 2025 Full Review Preparation for the Next Life (2025) 97% 3/5 EDIT “A film that's firmly divided into a half that works and a half that doesn't.” – ScreenAnarchy Sep 5, 2025 Full Review Honey Don't! (2025) 45% 3/5 EDIT “The slight twinge of too-cruel violence and a somewhat disappointing finale can’t take away from the film’s general success as a fast-paced crime comedy that’s full of laugh-out-loud scenes. ” – Chicago Reader Aug 28, 2025 Full Review Caught Stealing (2025) 85% 3/5 EDIT “Caught Stealing never gets near the best of its genre or its director's earlier work, but there's something to be said for watching great actors light up a screen. Oh, and there's a really good cat.” – ScreenAnarchy Aug 28, 2025 Full Review Americana (2025) 63% EDIT “Americana delivers as an enjoyable neo-western with some things to say and requisite genre thrills, but it’s unlikely to be remembered.” – Chicago Reader Aug 25, 2025 Full Review Weapons (2025) 93% 3/5 EDIT “Weapons spends most of its runtime in the same funny, scary, mysterious, and thematically-legible-without-being-too-overt sweet spot as...Barbarian. Unfortunately, its final section drags the whole movie down by insisting upon audience hand-holding.” – Chicago Reader Aug 14, 2025 Full Review Red Sonja (2025) 56% EDIT “Red Sonja (2025) is significantly flawed, but it's also an unabashedly earnest adventure movie, something that's been missing from our screens and deserves to return. ” – ScreenAnarchy Aug 13, 2025 Full Review Ma: Cry of Silence (2024) EDIT “Delivers a rattling and motivating call to collective action that speaks directly to Myanmar's history of oppression and legacy of resistance [with] an almost slow cinema consideration of its nation in microcosm.” – ScreenAnarchy Jul 21, 2025 Full Review Superman (2025) 83% EDIT “Superman is never bad, it’s just too full to allow its best aspects to shine.” – Chicago Reader Jul 21, 2025 Full Review
