While there were a couple of things in the movie that didn’t sit right with me and while just a couple of things didn’t make much sense from a film-critic perspective, I can’t help but acknowledge that this is definitely a touching movie. It was emotionally gripping and you become very invested in these characters and their families. Quite a time for America and it should be remembered in this way with how tragic, sad, and hard it was for many New Yorkers and Americans. With all due respect to the filmmakers, many of us lived through 9/11 and remember that day almost play by play. Hollywood was never going to create anything more horrifying or powerful than the reality itself. The movie is understandably very careful and respectful with the subject matter, but that sensitivity also limits the drama. Nicolas Cage gives a solid performance, but spending so much of the film trapped beneath rubble with two injured officers makes for a surprisingly slow experience. I appreciate what the movie was trying to do and the people it wanted to honor. I just never found it particularly compelling as a film. A respectful tribute to an impossible day to recreate, but unfortunately a pretty dull movie. See more made4change T @Jaheeeem Jun 9, 2026 Just a very awful movie. Only shows 9/11 for the first few minutes with stunning inaccuracies that anyone with a site map couldve easily avoided. (2 WTC doesnt have columns at the base in the lobby?? lol) There are so many 9/11 stories to tell and they chose fictional characters instead of the real heroes of that day. This couldve been a real time depiction of the event but a choice was made to rush everything to just get these guys in the complex so the building can fall on them. overall a waste of time. The walk did a much better job bringing the towers to life and the naudet brothers home video shows the scale and tragedy of 9/11 so much better. Really do not recommend. I am thankful that I was serving during this time and was able to bring a few of these pathetic losers to justice. We will NEVER forget.
