Despite its flaws, the concept of the movie was still very intriguing, and Noomi Rapace beautifully displayed seven different personalities throughout the movie. I could see sci-fi, action, and drama fans finding some enjoyment out of this movie, but there are definitely better ones out there. See more Gordon S. @gordonsmith100 Jun 3 Imagine China's one-child policy still in effect, add in a totalitarian regime, throw in large doses of surveillance technology in a future world, and you have the core concept of this movie. Brilliantly executed. Historical note for those who find the concept of this movie implausible: despite the mass availability of contraceptives and despite China's former one-child policy, millions of Chinese, particularly in rural areas, chose to have more than one child. In some cases, they were allowed to keep that child. In countless others, infanticide was practiced, particularly by those who wanted a son and chose to get rid of inconvenient girl babies. Still other babies were adopted in large numbers by foreigners. For that generation born during the several decades of the one-child policy, there are 30 million more men than there are women. First, I'm not a big sci-fi fan. In fact, it's my least favourite genre, along with superhero, Marvel/DC films. What Happened To Monday is a brilliant idea, and exists in a not-so-distant future. You could see these sort of things happening. I mean, hell, the one child policy already exists in China so we're almost there! The acting is really good in this. There's not one actor who delivers a dud line. The lead actress is fantastic and Willem and Glenn are such great choices for their roles. I love the story, I was incredibly invested in the seven sisters, and the world they lived in. In no way, could I have predicted the ending, or even the twist / reveal. Upon a second (okay, fine it was my third) re-watch, the hints were a little more apparent, but on my first viewing it was a complete shock. Like all Sci-Fi films, you have to stretch your imagination pretty far. And for this one, I didn't mind that one bit! :) See more Eggplant F @RT23880061 Apr 21 Most awful movie I’ve ever watched, the clear lack of humanity and burning millions of children inside cyrocontainers which are quite literally a jet burning coffin. while being alive, and the coverups following after. I am appalled by whoever decided to make such a movie. Shame on whoever thinks this makes anyone’s day. I’d give this movie a 0 but I don’t get the option, so I hope my half star brings it to an absolute 0 by the time everyone who feels likewise rates it. This movie is full of surprises and stunningly suspenseful. Imho a one-masterpiece-wonder - if you compare it with some other stuff made by Wirkola or/and Rapace..! See more Jeff B @RT54874440 Apr 13 Firstly, I love Noomi Rapace, she just gets put in a lot of bad films, and other than The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009/6 films), this one is no exception. The storyline is good sci-fi in a world of overpopulation and a shortage of food supplies, but it's 1990's filmmaking style. The cast is mostly over-the-hill and/or dull with the exception of Noomi, who plays all 7 sisters, and she is the only reason this film is worth a watch. Just don't expect a good movie.
