It was boring and not funny in any way. Just a bad idea that should never ever been made into a movie. The character is unlikeable, the story was asinine and it never gets better from beginning to end. Everyone associated with this movie should delete this from their credits!!! See more Megan T @RT03269184 Aug 1 This is a special movie. If you don't get it, you've likely had a very boring and easy life. If you do get it, you are correct, it IS great. It mixes humor with horrifying emotional pain in a way that I found very honest and very true. I certainly understand why so many people don't get it- they are the same type of people who tend to struggle at understanding anything that goes far beyond the surface layer, where things are never black and white, good and bad. The comedic elements that occasionally appear do not in any way raise it to the level of comedy. While it dutifully follows the predictable three act structure, there's not enough there to make me care, not about Alice, nor any of the other characters. It does manage to drive home with a sledghammer Alice's dysfunction and elicits a few smirks at her expense. That's just not enough to be compelling either for comedic or dramatic satisfaction. If the intention was to show us someone who is hard to root for then mission accomplished. If the intention was to leave us with the message "life goes on", mission accomplished. I didn't need to spend an hour and a half of my life to know that. I'm a big fan of Kristin Wiig. In spite of her immense talent, I just don't enjoy her in these dramatic roles.
