The movie that reunited Javier and Penelope. They fell in love and started a family. Isn't that lovely? As Woody prepares a new movie in Spain (his third), it's worth saying that VCB is, for my money, his best movie of the new millennium. Never mind Midnight in Paris (2011), or Blue Jasmine (2013), both of which are quite derivative. VCB has an energy, a life affirming vivacity, and a brevity, quite unlike any Woody movie since Zelig. No jokes, despite it being a comedy, and no jazz, thank heavens; just Spanish guitar and humorous romantic predicaments. There's also no Woody character in it. I'm still in awe of the way Javier's Juan Antonio saunters across the restaurant and coolly tries to pick-up both Vicky and Cristina. All it takes is confidence, and a private jet, amigos. A fresh love triangle comes into existence with the arrival of Cruz's unstable ex-wife, Maria Elena. Cruz got an Oscar for her performance, and Madrid got jealous, hence the new movie on the horizon.

★★★★★ Absolutely loved this movie. The vibe, the music, the chemistry between the characters — everything felt so natural and artistic. It made me want to book a flight to Barcelona immediately. Penélope Cruz completely stole the show for me. Such a beautiful, emotional, and unforgettable film.

Funny in 1 hour and 36 minutes. Rated PG-13 for Sexuality, Mature Thematic Material and Smoking. Academy Award winner in 2009 for Best Supporting Actress (Penelope Cruz).

Felt like an American’s view of what these sophisticated Europeans get up to. Looked like a travelogue, all beautiful and sun-kissed. But for me, ruined by the intrusive voice-over narration explaining what is going on. Show, don’t tell!
