Robson C Oct 7 Um grupo de universitários decide visitar uma casa abandonada perto do cemitério, como uma espécie de trote. O que não esperavam que uma criatura presa lá desde 1800 se libertaria e passaria a caçá-los. Adaptação de uma obra do H. P. Lovecraft, o filme tenta mostrar a casa como uma espécie de labirinto, porém isso não acontece. As tomadas das cenas acontecem sempre no mesmos cenários. Os personagens não são nada carismáticos, principalmente os protagonistas. Mas a principal decepção seria a criatura que dá o nome ao filme. No início, ela é como o tubarão de Spielberg, quase não a vemos e também muitas das cenas de morte ficam só nos gritos das vítimas. Porém, quando ela aparece por completo, está mais para uma fantasia de Carnaval ou Halloween do que um monstro assustador. Chato e decepcionante. The script was ultra-cheesy, and the acting was embarrasingly awful. The redeeming factor was the magnificent look and atmosphere of the creature itself. I ordered the blu-ray based on that alone. Having seen it on VHS 3 decades ago, I remembered the magnificent horror of the creature and it's backstory and remember it only for that. See more Justin T 10/07/2024 This is better than your average slasher but worse than the good slashers so overall it sits probably very slightly below average for all films. The production quality is quite low but this is engaging because of the Lovecraft lore. The acting is average at best, mostly the acting is pretty poor. Personally I really like the cinematography but I could see how most people wouldn’t like it and think the film looked horrible. The monster was really cool but I don’t think that it is true to the Lovecraft mythology. I can see how something so intangible and impossible to see with normal eyes is so difficult to translate as originally written to film. A bunch of middle aged college students find a "thing" living in a local abandoned house. Terrible acting and cheap sets but I'll give it a mark for a not so bad creature design.
