See more jordan m @RT33422384 02/04/2021 It's mildly surprising that most of the cast & crew from The Brothers was involved in this movie as I hated that other one and thought this one was actually quite good. The two share themes like having most of the black characters be successful & attractive (always great to see) but this one pulls it off much better by not having it come off as the humblebragging footnotes to a bunch of guys who look and act as though they've never faced real hardship. In this movie the successful characters are celebrated & bragged upon in a much more realistic way. They also feature very attractive people having romantic difficulty but in this case they don't imply that the characters' love lives are over if they don't work things out with the intended girl. They also put a lot more effort into comedic relief, adding high quality comedic actors for both sides. The movie isn't perfect as the lengths that Vivica goes to punish her man veer into the unreasonable & they didn't spend enough time building the romance for me to feel invested in seeing them get back together, but for a basic rom-com they really did a good job here.
