I would never call this a comedy. And would never give this guy a gun. It’s a story of family dysfunction, mental illness and suicide. Hard to watch.

It's a compelling lead performance, but the tone is all over the place. It starts off as a sort of black comedy then veers away steeply and the story - such as it is - only resolves through a writing sleight of hand

One of the best films to come out in the last 10 years...in comparison to some of the Oscar nominations in the past this guy deserves one..its melancholy with a hint of humour in the script..certainly is not a comedy. Its just superb

Incredible film. I watched Phantom Thread thinking no one could beat this film then Thunder Road blew it out of the water...thats saying something, the fact that he did almost everything wrote directed stared scored....wow..
