It was crap! … I love an anti-developer narrative, but it was so insubstantial. … I felt embarrassed for these actors, the way they were capering. There are so many good examples of this kind of thing done so much better; just watch one of them instead.

Entertainment featuring a talented cast who live up to their reputation, in a charismatic, fun, and truly beautiful story to follow, complete with a plot twist worthy of the crime genre. This production isn't "The Best," but it's something very enjoyable and well-made, to the point that it makes me want to be a member of the Thursday murder club.

A disappointing adaptation of an otherwise brilliant book. The casting was a particular let-down; despite the undeniable talent on screen, the disconnect with the original characters was appalling. It is a surprising misstep for Chris Columbus, a director whose films I typically admire.

Spoiler alert! This movie is a classic "forget logic—just enjoy the ride," but the ending had me fuming. The law comes down hard on the vulnerable characters, while the truly cruel villain barely face consequences. I honestly don’t understand the message, because despite what it claims, it’s not really about friendship and love. Amazing cast—but that’s the only good thing about it.
