Anchored by a quietly compelling performance from Dylan McTee, The Other is punctuated by moments of terror, balancing both the emotional and visceral elements of horror effectively. Go to Full Review

If you’re a little patient with' The Other', then it will reward you with a heart-filled story that ultimately delivers on brutal horror, full of practical effects. Go to Full Review

Gross, gut-wrenching and with a gumption-filled heroine [...] Come for the disgusting nightmare creature that will inevitably crawl out of some poor character’s orifice, and stay for the sweet father-daughter bond between Daniel and Kathelia. Go to Full Review

I’m trying to make that vague, but between this film and Bring Her Back, horror cinema really seems to have a bone to pick with the idea of children being safe in movies. Go to Full Review

It can be said that we are drawn in quickly and effectively, surprised repeatedly, and come away with a lot to contemplate. Go to Full Review

Michael P 3d The Other is unlike any Other movie I have ever seen. It’s quite quirky and special, but the quirk can only go so far. See more Will K @wken3 Jan 8 The premise could have really been something interesting but I feel it was done completely wrong. Although performances by the actors were great, the original material was lacking. The dialogue is clunky and feels inhuman and not in a good "on purpose" way. There are ways that the adults talk to the kids that just don't make sense for the age the kids are. Although not on purpose, it feels like it has this veiled racist agenda with the big evil being attached to the African American foster child (Kathelia) of a white couple. The movie seems to be telling white couples not to adopt or foster children of color because there's an "evil" attached to them. There is also a really bad habit within the movie of telling and not showing. We are told that Robin has had 4 miscarriages instead of it being shown to us which is also why the dialogue feels inhuman. Honestly, there are better movies out there to watch and this one is not worth your time. See more Mitch S. @Ronkman Jan 3 Total bag of swill except for actor Dylan McTee who poured his all into this crapfest. Advise if you want to give this a go; watch the first 10 minutes to get the premise then skip to the last 10 minutes to get to the reveal See more Lloyd S @Lloyd93 Dec 1 Good watch and creepy. But I don't like the girl's name Kathelia. It sounds terrible. See more gary l Nov 2 I really wanted to like it after a recommendation, but I felt like I was waiting 90 minutes for something special, but it didn't really happen. Maybe it's just me? See more Nate P. @natertater Oct 31 Entirely silly, 100% worth a watch. Not really a recommendation, but if you're going to watch it, watch the whole thing. Actually kind of heartwarming, also quite disturbing and gross. I think I said out loud "what the hell/who the hell made this" at least 5 times during runtime. But my girlfriend fell asleep on the couch next to me at the same time. Take that for what you will. See more Read all reviews
