Nick V @RT02654353 21h This could have been a blockbuster if someone confiscated Nolan’s hiking boots. The film dedicates a solid hour just watching people commute. Matt Damon looks at a hill. We know he’s going there. But instead of cutting, Nolan forces us to hike every grueling inch in real-time. Thirty minutes is just staring at actors’ backsides trudging up inclines! And the eating! The loud chewing sound effects are out of control. Nolan must have apprenticed on a Spaghetti Western and decided Homer’s epic needed high-definition mastication. The script is the worst since The Waterboy. Someone should have brought in Clint Eastwood with pruning shears to gut 90 minutes of this self-indulgent crap. The Odyssey isn't a walking tour! It should be tight vignettes: Cyclops, Sirens, Trojan Horse. Bing, bang, boom. As a writer, I know the art of writing is rewriting. This screenwriter clearly never met the concept of brevity. Like most Christopher Nolan movies, you can watch this over and over to catch all of the nuances. If you want the most faithful adaptation, as Homer intended, then you should watch the 1997 version, and if you just want action, then you should watch the 2026 version.
