The Mastermind has a fair amount of potential as it sets up its intriguing heist tale..., but it sadly loses its way rather quickly as it becomes quite clear that Reichardt simply didn't know where to take the story after that.

Josh OConnor is infinitely watchable and Kelly Reichardt has made some great films, but the promise of a bumbling art thief in 1970 Framingham did not live up to the reality on the screen.
