Jeremy M 07/01/2024 A very beautifully visualized movie, and a fantastic adaptation of the book that it was based on. It's gorgeous in every way, and takes you places that you may not have thought possible. It's rich material and fine storytelling for multiple generations. There is enough reinforcement of how this world works that my 6 year old was able to understand what was at stake throughout, and it was done efficiently that I didn't feel like I was being walked through everything--there's enough exposure before explanation that you're given the chance to figure things out yourself, which is probably when it hits most emotionally. I really enjoyed the music. It wasn't just something backing the dialogue and animation, but a much more active participant, revisiting themes and driving through the final scenes. I was able to catch this in a theater, and was also impressed by the multichannel mix. I'll miss that at home. Highly recommend, and I wish it had a larger theatrical release as it is the most emotionally powerful animated film this year. See more Igor S 1d I had a great time with this. There are scenes of the main character using her imagination, where both the animation and the colors are some of the most beautiful and vibrant i have seen in a long time. I wish we had more of those scenes, because they were so gorgeous. Some characters are also very charming and there are many really sweet moments that you will love. It loses a bit of steam near the end and there were some things i wanted to see going in other direction, particularly with the fate of some characters, but it's not a huge complaint. It was convoluted and lacked any of the charm of a Ghibli movie while having the nerve to attempt the animation style. There were several unnecessary characters and plot lines. The protagonist was not likable or relatable in the least. The movie contained too much peril to be watchable by younger viewers but was too emotionally stunted to be viewable by adults either. See more BeautifuL R May 15 This is a very nice movie indeed. 😍 A movie that reminds us how colorful, jolly, and full of adventure our imagination was during our childhood days. Age is just numbers and let's not forget the beautiful things we have experienced during those days. We may not be as young as yesterday but only our physical body grows old but our heart is still young.
