New York college student Justine (Lorenza Izzo), a lawyer's daughter, meets a student activist named Alejandro (Ariel Levy) when he goes on a hunger strike on behalf of underpaid janitors. Smitten, Justine agrees to help Alejandro undertake his next project: to save the Amazon. She soon learns to regret her decision when their plane crashes in the Peruvian jungle and she and the rest of their group are taken captive by a tribe of hungry cannibals.

Flat-pack acting, frat-boy screenwriting (the portrayal of activists is spitefully dumb) and retro gore combine with smug throwback neocolonialist racism and unfunny jokes about diarrhoea, dope and Scooby-Doo.

Pretty decent, obviously not a high brow horror but I’m now sure why the reviews are so low. If you know what you are getting yourself in for (gore!!!) then you’ll love it!

Terrível. História que tenta validar o péssimo roteiro no Plot Twist, porém continua sem convencer. Atuações ruins, personagens entediantes, edição que tenta acelerar o tempo porém confunde o espectador no contar da história.

This movie was just unbelievably gory and I can take some gore in a movie, I know Roth can be known for for his horror. But eating eyeballs in a movie is going too far for me. 🤢🤢

A very strange movie, it's about cannibals eating people but also has disgusting jokes and tree huggers. It has eli Roth's weird vibes all over it, like his fetish for gross stuff and racism. I don't understand how he's still a director. I swear the only good movie he made was Cabin Fever.

The Green Inferno follows a group of student activists who travel to the Amazon to save a tribe’s land. After their protest succeeds, their plane crashes in the jungle and they are captured by a cannibal tribe. The tribe brutally kills the students one by one while they try to escape. Justine later learns the activist leader mostly cared about fame and attention, not the actual cause. In the end, she escapes and gets rescued but lies to protect the tribe from being destroyed by outsiders. The movie is a graphic survival horror film with a dark message about fake activism and social media attention.
