Disgraced financial reporter Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) finds a chance to redeem his honor after being hired by wealthy Swedish industrialist Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) to solve the 40-year-old murder of Vanger's niece, Harriet. Vanger believes that Harriet was killed by a member of his own family. Nice to not have to read, but otherwise prefer original. Craig does well but I like Rapace, more. No new spin. Pretty well shot for shot.

A solid movie all the way around. It just would have been better if it was about 15-20 minutes shorter at the end. Definitely recommended though, and good enough to get me to try the sequel. They picked the perfect actress for this role.
