The subtext is easy to appreciate in hindsight. In real time, however, it feels generic. There is no dearth of tropes and gimmicks. Even the mistakes are familiar. It's hard to be original, but it's harder to be derivative, and still stay relevant.

Immersive, engaging and edgy, Hansal Mehta's directorial and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders is a must watch not only for bereaved parents, but for all. The sharp silence of the film makes it all the more gripping.

This may not be an edge-of-your-seat, hard-hitting crime thriller as you expect it to be, but its understanding and expression of grief, isolation and repressed anger is noteworthy. Also, you won't be able to guess the killer till the end.

The lead actress did a great job, has depth as a copper and should be given an opportunity at a detective mini series but with no bollywood flair. The actual movie had absolutely no depth of character or storyline.

Enormous plot holes which kill the movie: how did the body go from the lake to the Park? Why would DI Hardy and his assistant find the body after a legion of Police missed it after an all night search? Why did they haul it back to the car and leave it there, again to be found in the car that was missed in the night search; why did the stepmother confess to having instigated the murder, she already had gotten her lover, the killer, killed in turn by her husband, and there was no evidence incriminating her. And, what DI or any mother takes out a 240K pound life insurance on her child, only to tear the check up when she gets it? Outside of the fact that she could always declare the check lost and get another one... The only answer is that the DI was clairboyant...Not a good crutch for a crime who donit...
