Sgt. Adam Schumann tries to readjust to civilian life after returning home from the war in Iraq. Fellow soldier Tausolo Aeiti must deal with the aftermath of a bombing that left him with a traumatic brain injury. Will Waller searches for normalcy after surviving several explosions, while Michael Emory must deal with the effects of a sniper's bullet to the head. With memories of the battlefield still lingering, the soldiers soon begin their long journey to physical and emotional rehabilitation.

The film doesn't provide any easy answers to the issues surrounding the overwhelming number of veterans coming home and going into a system that isn't designed for such volume. But it does ask all of the right questions.

This is a very well made movie which explores PTSD well. The cast is strong, and I thought the script was really good. I love Haley Bennett, and Miles Teller is redonculosly talented. Miles, and Beulah Koale really sells it in this movie. I was locked in. There are a lot of different types of stories, very niche storylines which are added, which I really like because it brings a lot of surprising moments to the drama, so it creates a sense of tension throughout, and locks you in. Thomas Newman did the OST, hire him, pay him, he is one of the best! Thank you.

Good solid movie about a very important issue. However, the ending lacked the catharsis I think it was going for. Understandably, this movie tries to resolve many issues relating to experiencing war/PTSD, so it tries to provide resolutions for many of these issues...which splits the focus of the movie. I think this is why the ending is diluted in terms of the effect it was trying to achieve.

Refreshing take on the terrifically horrible impact war can have on soldiers and the veterans we live amongst. Coming from the land of Hollywood it felt like an honest take on the all too common outcome many veterans are faced with post-deployment. I'm surprised I didn't hear about the movie's release in 2017, but I'm pleased to see it gaining proper resurgence on streaming platforms. Do not sleep on this movie, 8/10.
