Spencer B @RT14578649 Oct 11 I admit this movie takes you back to another place and time, and it's not the Mesozoic Era. A product of the ’90s and the Jurassic Park era that leans heavily into its 3-D gimmick, T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous isn’t necessarily a bad film. There’s genuine heart behind its performances and messaging as it tries to separate fact from fiction, explore paleontology with childlike wonder, and deliver a story as grand as its prehistoric star. It’s certainly not for everyone, some might be distracted by the dated CGI or uneven acting, but there’s a nostalgic charm to it all. The film makes a surprisingly bold choice by refusing to portray the Tyrannosaurus as a mindless monster, instead showing her as a protective mother. Combined with nods to real-life figures like Barnum Brown and Charles R. Knight, T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous becomes less a dino thrill ride and more a heartfelt adventure filled with discovery and imagination. See more 07/10/2022 The movie is essentially low-budget late 1990's CGI. When the movie came out, it might have been decent. However, you can tell that it is intentionally avoiding scenes with dinosaurs and filling up its runtime with filler. The main story arc is basically an insult to the scientific method. Basically, if you don't have evidence, just make something up, and you are still unsure, try use psychedelics. The combination of "I know this in my heart" certainty combined with the now outdated depiction of dinosaurs (tyrannosaurus is shown in the "kangaroo-posture") is almost comical. See more 05/05/2014 this may be my nostalgia goggles talking but i really like this movie. its kind of short and the special effects arent jurassic park standards but it is a pretty good film in its own right. its a fun educational adventure that should occupy your time for a good 45 minutes. The story is a little confusing, and it appears everything was a dream yet it's not... Anyway, it's a fun little film that any dinosaur enthusiast would enjoy.
