Baseball-size hail, violent winds, and churning tornadoes make supercells deadly, and when William Brody was a boy, his father -- a legendary storm-chaser -- was killed by one. Now, the family business belongs to Zane Rogers (Alec Baldwin), a reckless tour operator who sees dollar signs where others see storm clouds. When his destiny arrives in the form of one of the most powerful storms on record, William leaves his mom (Anne Heche) and home behind to team up with his father's ex-partner, Roy Cameron (Skeet Ulrich), barely surviving a tornado yet determined to chase one of nature's most terrifying creations: the bear's cage.

The thriller-y bits are duly exciting, and there’s something almost endearing about a film that makes no attempt to find comedy or supernatural elements or airborne sharks within these dangerous-enough natural conditions.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

Overall it was a fine film. I liked the semi villain twist near the end, but other than that I have to admit I didn't find the actors particularly engaging so as the film progressed and they KEPT bringing up the dad over and over it was getting harder to enjoy. But I'd still overall rate the film as fine. Probably wouldn't watch it again except as a nod to the stomchasers whose real footage they used, though.

The score, the cinematography, the overall production design just rips Spielberg and John Williams films, like Jaws, Indiana Jones, E.T., Close Encounters - down to the shot. It's actually pretty cool, almost like how AI is today - just making an alternative Spielberg universe..but then you realize it's not quite pulling it off. I'll just say on a positive note, they do pull of the atmosphere of Spielberg magic ( along with some of the cheesy effects and stuff). Where it's lacking is in it's writing and directing. Scenes are often rushed and awkward. Direction reminds me of that time I went to film school.

It’s no Twister or Twisters, but Supercell is a decent adventure film with a solid cast. My main criticisms are that it takes too long to show the visual storm effects and has a rather pedestrian musical score. Also, I’m not sure what Alec Baldwin was doing in this film; he’s miscast and his accent doesn’t work. The rest of the cast, including the late and great Anne Heche, do a good job of selling the material.
