Baseball-size hail, violent winds, and churning tornadoes make supercells deadly, and when William Brody was a boy, his father -- a legendary storm-chaser -- was killed by one. Now, the family business belongs to Zane Rogers (Alec Baldwin), a reckless tour operator who sees dollar signs where others see storm clouds. When his destiny arrives in the form of one of the most powerful storms on record, William leaves his mom (Anne Heche) and home behind to team up with his father's ex-partner, Roy Cameron (Skeet Ulrich), barely surviving a tornado yet determined to chase one of nature's most terrifying creations: the bear's cage.

The thriller-y bits are duly exciting, and there’s something almost endearing about a film that makes no attempt to find comedy or supernatural elements or airborne sharks within these dangerous-enough natural conditions.

How this has a 73% audience rating I have no clue. The writing is horrible, the plot drags on and nothing really happens until a full 1hr15 min into the film. What really irks me is that they used orchestral scores throughout the whole film that were overdramatic and would be better matched to a war movie. Not sure how they dragged 3 A-list (maybe B or C by now) actors into this, but they must've needed the paycheck. It's not often I leave a negative review-- I don't just think I disliked this movie, I think it wasted my time. I had to skip chunks of scenes repeatedly due to the bad writing and loud overdramatic music, waiting to get to actual storm content. Don't waste your time if you're the type of person to look at RT reviews before you watch something. There are better low budget movies out there that are far more entertaining.

Synopsis
