En lo personal me hubiese gustado profundizar en stalingrado y la guerra en general pero a veces es bueno profundizar con los personajes con este tipo de historias sin embargo una parte de mi sigue inconforme con la trama principal de la película. See more 03/31/2022 ??? It wasn't bad but wasn't great. Look Russia doesn't have the special effects as US films or UK but it had that gritty innocence. Besides nukes what were we afraid off? They just keep throwing men and woman at you. The Fins did a number on them until no more gas or bullets, Eastern Europe held them off until they couldn't handled the mass man power. See more 02/20/2021 Great special effects and cinematography, but very patriotic, with one-dimensional characters and poorly developed plot. In short, a very "American" type of movie, except from Russia. Frankly I expected better filmmaking from Russia about WWII. There are so many compelling stories to tell about WWII in Russia, there's no excuse to be putting out stuff like this. Like others have mentioned, the much more low-tech German movie by the same name from 1995 was far better. That one was a bleak anti-war film with a message. This one was a cookie cutter action hero movie. See more 11/30/2020 Stalingrrad is less about the battle of Stalingrad and more about a minor skirmish over a tenement building and the people on both sides caught up in the horror of war. As a heroic band of Russian soldiers attempt to hold their position against the oncoming might of the German army it becomes one German officers quest to take the building and seek vengeance for his lost lover, a forlorn Russian girl who resembles his dead wife. Meanwhile, the Russian defenders dig in to save the life of a young girl who still lives in the ruins of the obliterated city, refusing to leave her home. She reminds the battle worn military men of their own humanity and the purpose of their struggle and sacrifice. It isn't the greatest film of all time but to read most other reviews you would think it is a sloppy exercise in mindless violence. I'm chalking that up to anti-Russian sentiment; few in the English speaking world want to be reminded of the great sacrifices the Russian people made to stop the Nazis. Fewer still will admit the real truth of WW2, which is that Russia overcame the Nazis, not the USA and certainly not Britain, whose forces arrived to declare victory only after the real fighting had been done. Highly watchable and engaging and also a pleasant relief from the flag waving propaganda that pours forth from Hollywood like diahorrea from Satan's arse hole. Finally, there is one hilarious moment amid the carnage, as a German officer dies he complains that he feels no pain, just itching in his armpits. "The least these damn lice could do is let you die in peace." See more 10/21/2020 The acting was so unconvincing that it did very little to portray the true horror of Stalingrad, despite the movie's incredible sets. The bookends of the film in Japan and the five fathers angle was strange. This had no link to the movie and was just confusing. Many of the scenes were pithy and the military tactics were very often off. Despite this, I enjoyed it very much. Any non-English speaking WWII is sure to intrigue. See more Read all reviews
