03/13/2016 I thought Jewel did awesome in this movie but as a whole this movie was flat out boring. At first I thought it was a movie about Jewel but it is a movie about Johnny Cash and his wife June Carter Cash played by Jewel. Not A Country-Music Bio-Pic...Errrh??..In Any Case, As Far As Disasters Go, This Just Decides To Die Right Off With The Action About Halfway Thru, It Feels Bizzarro, As It Shifts To This Couple (Dr Cooper & Some Chick..Emily?? I Think?) Just Chatting Away, Melodrama Style, After All This Carnage. At That Point I Tuned Out & Gave Up On Watching Random People Running, Screaming, Wheezing (Except For Some Random Key Characters Whom Seem To Have No Trouble. Breathing Indoors Or Out Or Even In The Heart Of An Active Volcano!!), Theres Crying, Poor Lil Kids Hurting, etc etc...All To End With The Expectant "Yaaay!! We Escaped A Volcano!"..Meh, Whatever. See more 08/19/2013 I'm not just saying this because I don't like Reese Witherspoon, because I certainly have never been fond of Jewel, but Jewel was better. Yes, this was a made-for-Lifetime TV movie, so it was a bit pat, and based on a book by John Carter Cash, so there was too much emphasis on Johnny and June's life together than the fascinating life she had before they married. But it's directed by Allison Anders, who is no slouch, the costumes were great, WAY more authentic than those in Walk the Line. And any movie that casts John Doe and Frances Conroy as A.P. and Maybelle Carter has my vote. See more Read all reviews
