See more Isabella H @MrsHamilton Jun 2, 2026 Watched this movie for English and had no idea what this film was about. I expected big things because it had Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. I was not disappointed. They both delivered powerful performances that carried the movie. Micheal Shannon was absolutely brilliant and delivered his few scenes with incredible talent and completely took over the screen. I originally thought the movie was average, but after reading the book I understand more about what the intentions were. I do think that it works better as a novel and prefer the book, but the adaptation did do it justice. Obviously because it's a movie you don't get as many answers to questions as would be preferred, and they can't include every single thing from the book. I think to fully enjoy the movie you need to read the book, preferably before watching the movie. This is definitely a must watch for those interested in themes of conformity, feeling trapped and desperation. 5 stars. See more Chris V @ZP170 Mar 22, 2026 Escaping the inescapable.
