Ross M @RT14420929 Apr 16 That this has a 60% critics rating does call into question yet again, the veracity of such ratings. This was well shot and the cast wasn't terrible. Apart from that, the film is a mess. Plot points appear and disappear without any discernible meaning or resolution. What was the point? There was no point. He eventually meets bright African engineers who have a developed a weapon to defeat the robots. High production values, and I liked the fact that a poor, developing nation is able to battle the technologically superior aliens on their own terms. See more 12/11/2021 There's some OK looking CGI, used to show us a few unnecessarily complicated looking killer alien robots. That's the best part. The rest is lots of shooting and some bad attempts at presenting some semblance of a story and some characters we're supposed to care about. No. The answer is no. See more 09/24/2021 Making a movie is an incredibly difficult creative/economic endeavor. You have to really want IT! Why? Why did they make this movie? What in it was supposed to be enjoyable interesting or fun? A doctor and an amnesia-suffering soldier go on a trek just a few days as everything in the world was brought down by a massive, global attack. Spoilers... was it the Americans? Why is the soldier, "Bo" drugged? modified? memory-wiped? I don't know and I sure didn't find out, maybe give me a dose of that memory wiping treatment? Why were humans being sucked up into the massive alien craft, just like the most iconic alien invasion story of all time, which will go unnamed as this atrocity should not be in the same review with it. Where did his doctor girlfriend go to (who never did one "doctor" thing in the whole movie, including the scene where he bandages himself! Honestly, what doctor allows another human who is injured to bandage themselves?) If. your answer the kind who administers a chokehold mercy-kill to the bleeding-out photographer they meet on the road, you guessed right! I repeat, he didn't go after "the girl" but disabled and brought a ship like she was hauled into later, having never mentioned her after her abduction. So come on Joe... why did you make this movie... what is it, would you say, that actually did here? More entertaining than any other sci-fi film out of the bigger Hollywood studios for years. A fresh spin on the classic 'Aliens invade Earth' plot. It focuses solely on the human perspective, especially that of the main character Bo. Highly recommend it. I don't want to put any spoilers, but I will say Lee Pace does a phenomenal job in the lead role of Bo. See more Read all reviews
