While it's about as derivative as you'd expect, it also manages to offer at least some fresh perspectives for the found-footage zombie genre. Go to Full Review

The boy was the weak link at the start but became more believable as the film went on. See more Matthew B @RT77991241 10/08/2024 While it has a couple entertaining moments here and there, Quarantine 2 is ultimately a highly disappointing sequel that throws away all that was good with the first film and its Spanish source material. The idea of a rabies-like virus outbreak taking place in an airport could have been an amazing opportunity to explore rarely covered territory within the zombie genre, but Quarantine 2 instead chooses to take the easy road and not take any real chances. We've all had discussions about the zombie apocalypse... what would you do? Where would you go? Where would you NOT want to go under ANY circumstances? I'm willing to bet the airport has come up in this discussion as a place that you would absolutely want to avoid. Along with places like the mall, the hospital, really anywhere that has tons of supplies other people would want, thus subsequently tons of people being infected and turning. Unlike the mall and the hospital though, the airport is a location that hasn't had a proper visit within zombie movies. The only thing that comes to mind is Dead Air in the first Left 4 Dead, but that's a video game. So the movie has a real opportunity here to create something unique, a real panic driven atmosphere... hordes of people trying to flee the infection on planes only to be met with the very same fate they were trying to avoid. Our protagonists would have to figure out how to not only get out of this situation, but where to go after their last option had been exhausted. Maybe even HUNDREDS of people who had fled to the airport being quarantined, and panic ensues as everyone tries to discern who's infected and who isn't? Sounds interesting right? That would have taken too much effort on behalf of the filmmakers. Instead we're given a very boring story set in a quarantined airport that's ALREADY CLOSED and thus has no people in it, as our small group of survivors huddle together and try to make sense of such a dire situation. Being trapped in an enclosed area could have been interesting, after all it worked just fine in movies like this films predecessor (the first quarantine), its source material "REC", both the original Dawn of the Dead and its reboot, Rammbock: Berlin Undead, The Night Eats The World, #Alive and its American sibling "Alone", What We Become, or any other number of zombie movies with that premise... difference between this movie and those movies is those movies actually have ATMOSPHERE, likeable characters that you CARE about, and a real sense of urgency. Not to mention they completely throw away the mystery of the doomsday cult from the first movie, and have one of the leaders of the cult appear and explain his motives to us as if we are mentally handicapped. This movie is highly disappointing and serves no purpose other than to collect what little money it made when it was originally in theatres. Not recommended. Watch REC or the FIRST Quarantine instead. See more Read all reviews
