This is the Disney animated tale of the romance between a young American Indian woman named Pocahontas (Irene Bedard) and Capt. John Smith (Mel Gibson), who journeyed to the New World with other settlers to begin fresh lives. Her powerful father, Chief Powhatan, disapproves of their relationship and wants her to marry a native warrior. Meanwhile, Smith's fellow Englishmen hope to rob the Native Americans of their gold. Unfortunately, though luscious to look at and painstakingly rendered, Pocahontas is an unusually joyless affair. The adventurous beauty rejects one suitor because he is too "serious," but this movie barely registers on the humor meter.

Pocahontas strives for Romeo and Juliet-style sentiment, but it is shackled by its own constraints. The lovers can't really rise above the petty jealousies of their elders because, as the film never stops reminding us, the issues aren't petty.

I believe that Pocahontas was a great classic from 1995 just like Toy Story. Like I should have watch this movie but I did lol. So if you need to find it yourself if you can watch it yourself

Pocahontas is my personal princess. This princess movie is cliche & lacks originality, but this is still special. The movie is being diverse without it being forced, like "Mulan", "Lilo & Stitch", "Brother Bear" or "Princess & the Frog" so it is not woke. It also taught me that to get lost could be beneficial to you. If you walk in the footprints of a stranger, you will learn thongs you never knew you never knew. Pocahontas found her true way, which was different to what her father was expecting... She did not want to marry Kocoum but the captain, John Smith, who were in love with each other. Losses are also a big part of the movie: Pocahontas lost her mother but apparently, she stays forever when you feel the wind & Grandmother Willow advices to follow the heart, so would John Smith but so legendary, he lives on... cannot say anything to spoil the movie.
