Robert Rodriguez turns a zombie outbreak into a grindhouse carnival, complete with over-the-top gore, outrageous characters, and Rose McGowan’s unforgettable one-legged weapon of revenge. Every frame feels like a torn-out page from a midnight movie poster, scratched, burned, and proudly damaged. Loud, ridiculous, and wildly entertaining, it’s a beautiful mess that proves sometimes the best cure for the apocalypse is more explosions. See more Chris S @Janomi 1d Planet Terror is a very entertaining grindhouse throwback because it fully commits to its grimy, damaged, over-the-top exploitation style. The fake scratches, missing reels, gross effects, bad behavior, and pulpy attitude make it feel like a lost midnight movie rather than a polished studio horror film. Robert Rodriguez keeps the movie moving fast, throwing together action, horror, comedy, romance, zombies, military conspiracy, and pure nonsense without letting it feel weighed down. Rose McGowan gives the film its most iconic image as Cherry, but she also brings attitude, vulnerability, and real star presence. The gore and creature effects are disgusting in exactly the way the movie wants them to be. The characters and plot are intentionally thin, so the experience depends heavily on enjoying the aesthetic, but Planet Terror is loose, ridiculous, nasty, and completely unapologetic. See more Ian R @RT23899272 Jun 22 Perhaps it's just me. Others seem to have enjoyed this movie as it is supposedly harks back to movies of the 1970's. I found it too tedious to enjoy. Nothing but blood. No story. I gave up when a girl, with a freshly amputated leg, was riding a Harley Davidson with one leg. This is the only movie with Josh Brolin in it I did not enjoy. Even though it was also cheesy I enjoy that style film making and it was very entertaining. Machete Kills vibes, funny Tarantino and Russell roll. All around fun movie.
